You might not expect a county of 75,000 in rural Ohio to have one of the most fully integrated Cancer Centers in the nation. But the vision of Dr. Steven Roshon and his partners have put North Coast Cancer Care Center (NCCC) at the forefront of cancer care.
“When we started to think about what we wanted our cancer center to be like, we wanted it to be very patient focused and comprehensive. We wanted the doctors in the various disciplines to be very integrated and work together as a team,” explained Dr. Roshon. They ended up with a cross-functional team that incorporated medical and radiation oncology, chemotherapy infusion, retail pharmacy, cancer genetics, and diagnostic PET/CT all in one location.
This integrated care center for their cancer patients is housed in a beautiful, inviting facility where patients receive their infusions while overlooking a quarry lake. NCCC is now the first center in the world to have fully integrated both its medical oncology database and its radiation database. Dr. Roshon and his partners have also added patient financial counseling, art therapy and plan outdoor healing gardens and a nonprofit group whose goal is to increase cancer education and provide alternative therapies such as art and exercise.
