Tim Smith
Vice President of Direct Sales
leads our national direct MD/DO/Healthcare Providers/Facility sales, both inside and field-based, Medical Protective Insurance Services (a wholly owned insurance agency selling collateral products primarily to dentists), and a stand-alone insurance agency wholly owned by Medical Protective focusing exclusively on professional liability sales in the Northeast region of the country.
Tim began his Medical Protective career in 1994, conducting legal and competitor research. After 18 months he began managing and marketing national accounts. He then moved to Underwriting, where for three years he underwrote large, national accounts and eventually supervised the underwriting of much of Medical Protective's physician medical malpractice book. Two years later Tim became the Midwest regional manager, responsible for all sales, marketing, customer service, and operations arising from the 13 state region. Tim assumed the position of Operations Leader in June, 2002, and was charged with streamlining the company's operational infrastructure to improve customer service. In September, 2005, Tim assumed responsibility for Medical Protective's national DDS sales team, as well as all MPIS sales and operations. In September, 2006, Tim relinquished his operational duties in exchange for assuming the company's national MD sales initiatives.
Tim attended Indiana University at Fort Wayne (IPFW), graduating with a B.A. in Political Science in 1990. After graduating from IPFW, Tim entered Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, graduating with a J.D. in 1994.
