Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical risk management education and consulting services for the insured client base of Medical Protective.
  • Provide content for new and ongoing CRM informational products and services

Responsibilities:

  • Assist underwriters in the processing of new business, renewals, endorsement requests and agent inquiries
  • Data entry of new business and maintenance of existing business information after receipt of application into ECHOS system and update the Image Right files as necessary
  • Contact Agents and Insureds regarding questions and/or clarifications to response forms as directed by the Underwriter

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS plus 1+ year insurance experience or combination of insurance education and equivalent industry-related experience
  • INS/Agent license preferred
  • Proven ability to work on a team or operate independently
  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Succeeds in high volume environments requiring personal organization, multitasking, & regular reprioritization with short turnaround time on items of high impact
  • Experience in researching and accurately resolving technical subject matter while working under pressure and within time constraints
  • Strong customer service skills for use with internal and external customers with ability to effectively handle incoming calls and deal with difficult situations
  • Comfort with a structured, process based approach to underwriting, including limitations in levels of authority. Authority level increases with increasing competence

Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and maintain integrity of book of business on physician accounts within the assigned units.
  • Perform all quoting and rating functions as they relate to assigned book of business.
  • Maintain constructive and cooperative working relationship with Distribution Partners and/or Insureds as related to assigned accounts.
  • Assist in marketing duties as assigned by Underwriting Assistant Vice President.
  • Assist in developing efficient workflow processes and explore new methods and ideas to minimize duplication of effort (including new computer programs & implementation).
  • Maintain communication network with the Claims Department as it relates to loss information and its impact on rating.
  • Explain company underwriting policies and procedures to physician insureds.
  • Assist Accounting with verification of overdue premiums and investigation of premium refunds.
  • Follow-up on all cancellations to determine the reason for cancellation. Identify areas of concern and address these concerns with the Underwriting Assistant Vice President

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor degree preferred plus 3+ years of extensive Underwriting experience preferred.
  • Formal insurance education required; INS, AU or CPCU designation.
  • Property/Casualty Insurance license required.
  • Extensive Underwriting knowledge (all lines).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving capabilities to serve as liaison between the Underwriting Department and other departments, agents or insureds.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, organizational, critical thinking and decision making skills required.
  • Employee should be able to redefine and streamline processes within Underwriting.
