Telemedicine: Evaluating Virtual Care From a Risk Management Perspective

The concept of providing medical care at a distance has existed for more than a century. Despite this, until 2020, telemedicine remained a secondary strategy for the provision of medical care to the majority of the world's population. With the emergence of the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, telemedicine demonstrated proof of concept when remote patient care usage rapidly and exponentially increased throughout the United States. This program takes participants through the components of creating a successful telemedicine program, while exploring potential risks and benefits and addressing the current challenges to the long-term sustainability of telemedicine.
