Medical Protective Volunteers Step Up on Annual Days of Caring
Employees to support Charis House and Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic on October 13 and 20
October 12, 2011 – Employees from Medical Protective's Ft. Wayne headquarters will provide needed support to Charis House located at 431 Fairmount Place. Approximately 40 MedPro volunteers will work from 1 to 5p.m. tomorrow to assemble and remove bunk beds as well as landscape a newly cleared park area. (Medical Protective has partnered with Gary Lallo at Lawnscape to have the lot cleared.)
Charis House is a ministry of The Rescue Mission that cares for homeless women and children. With 78 beds on site, the organization offers short and long-term residential programs that provide intensive services to empower and enable women to move past the root causes of homelessness. For children in this program, the focus is on life skills, character building, spiritual development and educational enrichment.
"We are excited about our new partnership with Medical Protective. This opportunity will allow us to get the new beds switched, without causing too much disruption for our residents or our programs. We appreciate the help from the Medical Protective employees and hope that this partnership will continue and grow," says Toni Lovell, Program Director and Corporate Grant Developer for The Rescue Mission.
The following Thursday, October 20 from 1 to 5pm, MedPro will spend time at Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic located at 413 East Jefferson Boulevard. Over 20 employee volunteers will focus on landscaping and assisting with set up for Healthy Cities activities, an event to be held at Matthew 25 on Friday, October 21.

"This year, we are able to host the Healthy City Veterans Stand Down with the help of MedPro's employees. With over 400 healthcare and lay volunteers, Matthew 25 is the region's only full-time, full-service clinic offering medical, dental and vision services all under one roof. They operate over 50 hours a week, serving over 110 uninsured patients a day. For over 30 years, Matthew 25 has filled a critical need that no other organization does, providing an irreplaceable service for uninsured, low-income residents of Allen County.
